Proper Care = Long Lasting Use

Cast iron can last for years when seasoned properly and cared for. Cast iron is meant for longevity, to be passed down for generations.

Your brand new press could have light rusting from transit. Please follow the instructions below to ensure your press lasts for generations!!

Washing: Use hot "soapy" water. (soap is for the FIRST wash only) Thoroughly wash the press. This first wash removes factory residue and mild rust. Rinse and dry the product COMPLETELY after this first washing.

Perfect Cast Iron Seasoning Recipe

Heat the piece in a 200°F oven to be sure it is completely dry and to open the pores of the iron. While still warm, carefully put it on a paper towel, pour a small amount flaxseed or vegetable oil on it, and rub the oil all over the product making sure to get into every nook and cranny, but not saturate it. Rub it off with paper towels or a cotton cloth until it looks like there is nothing left on the surface. Let it cool and let your oven cool.

Turn the oven to a baking temperature of 500°F and let the press preheat with the oven. When it reaches temperature, set the timer for an hour. After an hour, turn off the oven but do not open the oven door. Let it cool off with the press inside for two hours, at which point it’s cool enough to handle.

Ideally, repeat this process 4 to 6 times to add deep season in layers.

Washing and Care

After the initial wash and seasoning, wash only with warm water. Soap will compromise the seasoning on the product. Always dry thoroughly! Store in a dry place and lightly re-coat with oil after wash/use.
